August happenings.....

This is something I've wanted to do for a VERY long time.
Change the colour of water lillies...
These flowers are EVERYWHERE at the moment. We were visiting some family
and they had quite a few in their yard so I asked if I could take some home.

Each child was allowed to choose a colour.
Pink, Green, Blue, Red and natural white.

The pink flower for some reason didn't work much at all....
The little flowers looked gorgeous though...

Rosalee received a "paint your own" mug for her birthday from a friend.
She sat down one morning and created a masterpiece...

Travis has gotten another year older. Time certainly is flying past.
He is an energetic, enthusiastic fella. He has lots of potential and we pray that God
will continue to guide and bless his development throughout the year ahead.
He is a real lively blessing in our family and we all love him lots.
When we put this cake in front of Travis he asked us seriously, "How come you put
8 candles on the cake." We all had a really good laugh. He had forgotten he turned 8.

The next day he had a party with a few friends. Here is his birthday cake...

Chloe is thoroughly enjoying every horse riding lesson.
I took some photos of her with the horses for a school project she was working on.

Rose looks forward to "Oma Day" which is every Monday. In her words....
"Mum I have to do all the hard, heavy work and Oma does all the easy stuff.."
I told her that Oma is lucky that she has such a capable girl that can help her.
They absolutely love the time they get to spend together. Its precious for both of them..
and its not ALL hard work like little miss thinks it is :)

Travis was home with a head cold so he asked if we could have pancakes for lunch.
He then asked if we could make green ones... (yes.. he is our 'dare to be different'' kid)
Rose then asked for pink ones....

Yummy......

Delicious....

Chloe had to dress up as a character from a book for school.
We decided to do a little miss character.. This blog here is where
I got the idea of how to make this from. It was VERY easy. Just two pillows sewn
separately with little straps so Chloe could tie onto her body. Brilliant idea!!!

Here is the front of Little Miss Chatterbox...

The back view...

7am in the morning.. all ready to head off to choir before school :)

We also celebrated Father's Day at the very beginning of September.
Its a great day to acknowledge all the things that the children
appreciate about their DAD... They all adore him to bits.

I LOVE this photo... I am very blessed....

A little bit of sewing....

I am loving pinterest at the moment. There are soooo many different
craft ideas. I saw this cute little bag (tutorial here) and decided to give it a try.
The instructions were very clear and simple. Which was great for a beginner like me.
I LOVE how it turned out. Its sooo cute...

Bag in use....

The only down side was that it could do with a few more pockets for markers.
Rosalee had trouble trying to choose 4 markers so in the end she took 6.
I think I'm going to try and tackle making a bigger bag for larger colouring books.

Also I did 4 no-sew lap blankets too...
(The kiddies keep pinching my lap blanket all the time)
These involved LOTS of cutting and LOTS of knotting and was LOTS of fun.

This one is for Rosalee

"Mum it's so fluffy I just want to sleep all day."
mmmm... yeah right.....

The boys saw Rosalee's blanket and begged me to do theirs straight away.
3 more piles to put together.

I managed to finish Travis' blanket just before his bedtime...
He thanked me with a hug and put it straight on his bed...

By that time I was quite sore from bending over on the floor and also
my knees were hurting from leaning on them for so long. Corey looked at me longingly
to see if maybe I would get his done. I made a start on it but couldn't complete it
before his bedtime... however... I pushed on and finished it before he had
fallen asleep. He was so thrilled and immediately snuggled into it and fell asleep.

Chloe's blanket...... got completed the next afternoon....
She was happy to wait...

This project was heaps of fun to put together. I got the instructions from
one of the Spotlight brochures you can buy for 99c.

I hope you are all going well....

A little modification to our home......

When we were building our house Nick really wanted a wood heater but I refused.
I was 7 months pregnant with our third child and did not want a wood heater
because I was really worried that the children would touch it and burn themselves.
I also just wanted convenience heating too... :)

WELL....... 8 years later..... Nick got his wish...
and our youngest child is 5 years old.. :)
Here he is laying the tiles down while Rose is handing out instructions.

The next day he put the grout on.. I helped him so no progress photos to show.

A friend of ours got us a fire for nothing from a lady he was doing
a job for. It's in great condition. We were thrilled!!!
A man came and installed the fire as we wanted it done properly
and all done according to regulations.

All done!!! YAY!!!!

By the looks of this photo it seems like we have had the fire for ages already.
Its only been going for two days but we are really enjoying the warmth...
Well.... I had better go and put another log on the fire :)

We are thankful to our Heavenly Father for guiding and blessing
Rosalee's growth and development throughout the past year.
May He continue to surround her with His love, care and protection
for the year that is ahead. May we as parents also be given the strength
and patience to raise our children up in the fear of His Name.
